5G is the fifth generation of cellular communications. This means that some territory is divided into cells, where antennas are located in the center. Communication is provided by transmitting data between antennas using some technology.

There were fourth, third and first generation cellular communication technologies prior to 5G. However, it is the 5th generation and the prospect of launching other new generations excite the minds.

Most readers will immediately think of super fast internet if 5G is mentioned. In theory, the speed of the Internet should be ten times higher compared to the previous generation. However, to achieve such performance is possible only when using a certain frequency spectrum. Each frequency is characterized by the ability to penetrate through matter and bend around objects.

So, the frequencies that the 5G technology uses do not overcome obstacles well. This forces the antennas to be placed hundreds of meters apart. But even air humidity can greatly affect the speed of the Internet. This negates all the advantages of technology. For a simple user, 4G works more stable and reliable.

However, the speed of the Internet is not at all the main feature that you should pay attention to. A very important parameter is the number of devices that can be connected per square kilometer. If we compare the 4th generation with the 5th, then in the first case it was possible to connect up to 100K devices simultaneously. 5G technology allows you to connect 1B devices at once. This is a great opportunity to equip a modern production facility with a million sensors and connect them to a network. The network of devices that are able to collect, analyze and generate commands is called the Internet of Things (IoT).

The indoors can guarantee the constancy of the external conditions. Partitions and walls can be designed to take into account the location of the antennas. As a result, millions of data can be collected, analyzed and corrected. Management can reduce personnel costs, reduce electricity consumption, guarantee the safety of personnel and the environment etc.

We want to point three aspects of business strategies that make it actual and modern. A business strategy should be

  • Open,
  • Agile,
  • Intellectual.

Open

Customer dialogue is the most effective way to raise brand awareness and loyalty. It is worthwhile to promote a brand where the customer spends the majority of his or her time. Commercial solutions must blend in with the buyer’s surroundings. The brand should not involve the customer into a unknown system. It should give solutions on a platform that customer is familiar with. Many retail businesses, for example, are well-integrated on social media.

Agile

Agile began in IT, but it quickly moved to other industries. This cannot be described as a fully novel method. This principle was clearly utilized by previous organizations when developing their company strategies. But it wasn’t until lately that it was given a theoretical basis and description. As a result, Agile has evolved into a full-fledged ideology with its own set of rules, hypotheses, and proofs.

The Agile philosophy assumes that a business project should not be implemented solely on the basis of pre-made blueprints. It’s critical to be directed by the changing situations of the outside world. This does not imply that the company’s long-term ambitions should be abandoned. However, this should not be limited to rigid and standard frames.

Intellectual

Offers for clients should be highly customized to the desired qualities, conditions, time, and location.

A good example is headless commerce. It is a method of breaking the direct link between the front-end and back-end parts of an online store by using an Application Programming Interface to connect them (API). API controls data exchange and enables for flexible configuration (management) of both systems. Any change in user preferences necessitates a change in internal preferences. Personalization of the user interface is only achievable with this strategy.

Sometimes, a newly created strategy just doesn’t work. Here are 5 main reasons of failures with strategy implementation:

1. Failure to understand the real situation in the company.

It’s very important to know where company was before strategy implementation. If the current situation wasn’t properly understood, then it can lead to false conclusions during creation of strategy.

2. Failure to create a reasonable strategy.

Strategy shouldn’t be just loud and fine words. If there’s no real meaning behind the plan, then it wouldn’t resonate among employees. Even more – there would be no substance behind such a plan. The strategy’s endgame should also be understandable for employees, as they should clearly see what are they working for.

3. Failure to find the right people.

It’s very important to involve the right people into the process of strategy implementation – the influential people who can inspire other employees. Identification and engagement of such key persons is required.

4. Failure to determine the time for implementation.

Strategy implementation might take a lot of time. But if it doesn’t work for a long time, then it might be time to change something. It’s also important for employees to actually spend time to strategy implementation, not just everyday work.

5.Failure to change the new strategy

Implementation process must be dynamic. As company’s environment, both internal and external, never fails to change, so a strategy should be changed as well. Failure in monitoring and alterations will surely lead to overall failure of implementation, as strategy was originally based on already outdated premises.

Key Steps to Strategy Implementation https://executestrategy.eu/key-steps-to-strategy-implementation/ Mon, 01 Mar 2021 12:13:31 +0000 https://executestrategy.eu/?p=13 Strategy implementation is a hard thing to do. Here's 5 key steps to ensure the successful implementation

Strategy implementation is a hard thing to do. Here’s 5 key steps to ensure the successful implementation:

  1. Define clear goals of strategy
  2. Define roles and responsibilities
  3. Execution, monitoring and support
  4. Readjusting actions
  5. Project closure, research of end results

The first step to successful strategy implementation is identifying the end goals of the new strategy. It’s a very important step, as it’s difficult to create a solid plan of implementation without real understanding of the endgame.

It’s also important to understand that end goals must be realistic. Otherwise, it would demotivate company’s employees. Preparation stage must also include alternative plans to prepare for unexpected variables.

The second step is all about creation of a roadmap to accepted goals. It’s the phase of deep documentation when all the roles and responsibilities are clearly defined. Also, all defined roles must be explained to employees, as everyone should what to do, how to do it, who is responsible for it and how to interact with each other.

The third steps is where the action begins, setting the aforementioned plan into the motion. If everyone know their roles, then manager’s work mainly involves the monitoring of ongoing process, checking for progress and answering questions of employees.

During the strategy implementation project, it’s very important to introduce changes to the process, as it’s impossible to foreseen all possible issues. Manager have to be flexible and adjust the strategy to new realities, basing on monitoring that was done at the third step.

The final step of the project is, unsurprisingly, project’s closure and retrospective. After reaching the envisioned destination, manager should evaluate everything that was done. Dimerion Steelson (expert at ConsulSenses) advises answering the following questions:

  • Did the company reached the stated goals?
  • If it didn’t – why? What has to be done to reach them?
  • What obstacles could’ve been predicted at the second key step?
  • What exactly can be learned from the implementation process?
